HISTORY
1986
Frank Hockeborn attended classes shortly after leaving his aerospace employer Lear Seigler, Inc. in 1984 at General Numerics just before GE Fanuc became the sole representative for Fanuc in the USA. He then started looking for local companies using Fanuc NC controllers so that he could assist those companies with service when needed.
JANUARY 1989
Frank Hockeborn formed Automated Machine Technologies, Inc. and got to work creating a company that eventually employed up to ten people servicing at the board level and performing field service for a variety of machines used in manufacturing.
1992 TO PRESENT
Many years of service has seen the focus of the company change, becoming more focused on the installation and integration of CNC controls on older machine tools, replacing the older NC controller that did not use a computer with a CNC retrofit. At some point, Amtek's focus was not to be a company that would fix anything that a company needed repaired, to a more specialized set of products and service needed to cnc retrofit NC and CNC controlled machine tools. At this point Amtek was using Fanuc, Dynapath, Fagor, and other lesser known brands in its retrofit projects. That is until 2014 when again the direction changed.
MAY 2014
We were brought into the Centroid fold and attended the dealership program and successfully passed and became a member of the Centroid network of dealers. Centroid CNC is made here in the USA and always innovating expanding the products for professional use in manufacturing firms and even to the DIY community. Ir is building its brand to meet the needs of the modern world we live in. Developing new cnc retrofit controls at affordable prices thereby attracting followers from all walks.
